May 7th, our meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the German American Heritage Center, 712 W 2nd St, Davenport, IA 52802. This is a Tuesday not our regular Monday meeting. There will be no Monday meeting.
Jun 3rd, our meeting will be “How to Use Maps in Genealogy” by Scharlotte Blevins. It will be at 7 p.m at the Davenport Public Library, 321 Main St, Davenport, IA 52801. Scharlotte Blevins is a well known local speaker and teacher of genealogy. This meeting is well worth our time to come and see.

May’s meeting will be a tour of the German American Heritage Center, 712 W 2nd St Davenport, IA 52802. Time is 7:00 pm. The tour will begin after a brief meeting upstairs in conference room.

It will be on TUESDAY May 7th  instead of the regular night.

April Meeting

“An evening with our favorite ancestors” Everyone was told to bring a story about their favorite, notorious, infamous or problematic ancestor.

There were some very interesting stories told tonight. Everyone enjoyed the evening of story telling. Some of us could join the Blacksheep Genealogical Society with the tales we’ve heard.

In the words of Syd Lieberman, the Storyteller, “Trust yourself…Don’t listen to the inner voice that will tell you your story isn’t good. We all have that voice. Tell it to be quiet…This should be a joyous activity.. Just do the best you can and enjoy what you have done.”

These stories need to be told. Who better to tell them than a genealogist. We have the stories and we need to share. Share with everyone that will listen.
